My private site is still showing up on Google search

  Hi there,

  I needed to remove rikkimaccuish.com because I decided to use another portfolio service. I tried to cancel or remove this site but apparently I can’t so was urged to make it private. I did this but it still shows up on the first page of a google search. I’m happy to lose the domain name – I just want it removed from the internet! Can I change the domain name? I’m now launching a blog, which I’ll do through WordPress so if I could alter this domain name (I already tried but it wouldn’t go through) that would be good to.

  You will have to contact search engines and ask them to delete your site, or just wait it out. It can take up to six months for them to get around to it, and some never do at all.

  If I were you I’d just take that domain name and use it on a different site. Good Googlejuice is not something to throw away. You can easily go to your Store page and remove the domain from that webiste, turning it back to a whatever.wordpress.com one that has no google juice and then the links from search engines won’t go anywhere at all. You can even attach it to a different blog and then the links will go to that blog.
