My PRIVATE Won’t Show!!!

I’ve created a page for a friend and made it “private” so that the page is not visible to the public. After creating the page and making it private, I “updated” the page and posted it.
I next previewed the page and it looked fine. I then copied the url (http://joshuazepeda.wordpress.com/hughes) and proceeded to log out so that I could attempt to land on the page as a normal user without admin rights.
I pasted the url in the browser and got a message that stated: “Oops… Where did you get this link?”
Well… I got the link from WP!
I’m a bit mystified at this point. I’ve even tried using the “short link” instead, but get the same messge.

    Any idea what I’m missing?

My goal is to give the link to my friend so that they can go to the page by clicking on the link. (I’m trying to avoid revealing the page’s existence to the public. I realize that I could password protect the page, but it adds a tab to my blog and reveals the existence of the page.)

    Help!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Private pages are only visible to the blog owner.

What you want to do is to password protect the page if you want only select people to see it, not make it private.

Then send those you want to view it the link and the password.

That’s a strange use of the “private” concept. Anyhow, I appreciate the feed back. Thanks again!

    You’re welcome.

Private means just that. The public and others cannot see it, just you. It is your private page or post.
