What should I do? I had a free plan. Now I had this message….

A problem with the renewal of your WordPress.com Personal plan for tanonmain.wordpress.com still needs to be resolved.

Update your payment information—otherwise your plan will expire in 20 days.

If your plan expires, your site’s content may not appear as intended, and you will lose:

❌   The ability to set a custom domain as your primary site address.

❌   Ad-free browsing experience for your visitors.

❌   Fast support from our expert team.

❌   3 GB of storage space for your media.

    Hi @tangillespie2!

Thank you for sharing this with us!

I’ve taken a look, and it appears you had the Personal plan for a year, but you are now back on the Free plan, which is why you saw this message.

If you’re happy with the Free plan, there are no further steps for you to take.

But, if you’re interested in upgrading back to the Personal plan, you can follow the steps in this support guide: https://wordpress.com/support/manage-purchases/upgrade-your-plan/.

Please let us know if you have any questions on this!

    Hey!

It sounds like WordPress is warning you that your Personal plan payment didn’t go through, and your site might revert to the free plan if it’s not renewed. If you originally had a free plan, maybe the Personal plan was added during a trial or upgrade period.

    Here’s what you can do:

    1. Check your plan status – Go to your WordPress.com Billing page to confirm if the plan is active or pending renewal.
    2. Update payment info – If you want to keep the Personal plan, click “Update Payment Info” and add valid payment details.
    3. Let it expire – If you don’t need the extra features (custom domain, ad-free, more storage), you can simply let the plan expire. Your site will revert to the free plan, and your content will stay safe — it might just look a bit different.
