My profile linked to a blog that's not mine.
-
Hello, I rarely use my WordPress account, but recently logged in to leave a comment on someone else’s blog (the last comment here: https://thingstolucat.com/conservation/). My name shows up correctly, but when you click on the hyperlinked title (Interior Trails Traildog Log) it directs to a website that is not mine (https://traildogs.wordpress.com/.) I have never seen it before, and I do not want it linked to me if people click on my blog title. I’m a writer, and it’s very important to me that things associated with my name are what I’ve actually written. My web design person is away for several weeks and I’d like this to be remedied ASAP. I would just remove the comment for now, but I can’t figure out how to edit or delete a comment I’ve left on another blog. Thanks for any guidance.
ChristineThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

When we need Staff help with issues Volunteers cannot resolve like this one we type modlook into the sidebar tags on our forum threads. I did that for you. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question Then we subscribe to this thread so we are notified when they respond. To subscribe look in the sidebar of this thread, find the subscribe to topics link and click it.

And actually, now that I see it, the handle on the side here “trailsfieldnotes” links to the same blog that’s not mine. This is so weird.

Hi there,
The website that links to your username can be set via the Web Address field in your account settings:
https://wordpress.com/me/account
If you go to that link you’ll see the traildogs.wordpress.com address is currently specified there. Might you have mistyped when you originally added that?
Regardless of how it got there, you can change it there to the correct address where you want your username to link, or delete that field completely if you don’t want your username to link anywhere.

Thanks for the info. I erased the info at the link you provided and that seemed to work for the icon showed on this page–it no longer shows the web address next to my profile. However, the original post that this happened on is still showing linked to that other person’s blog. The page is here: https://thingstolucat.com/conservation-groups/ and my comment is at the very bottom. If you click on the comment with my profile, it goes to this website: https://traildogs.wordpress.com/
My web designer built the original links on my website to my blog, but she did not enter this incorrect website from the beginning. I have had the WordPress blog for a while and for years it linked to my blog correctly: (https://traildoglog.wordpress.com/) I have no idea how this happened but would like the link changed on the blog post above, or be able to delete that comment. I do not want my icon linked to a blog I did not write. Thanks for any further advising.

The image and link attached to comments are cached, and don’t change when you change the details in your account. The only person who can change that link is the owner of that site, so you can perhaps reach out to them and ask them if they’d be willing to edit the link. I cannot do it without their permission.

Okay, thanks. I still am not sure how this happened in the first place though. Do you have any insight into why a blog that was created after mine was would have been linked to mine, when mine worked fine prior to that, and I didn’t change anything?

We don’t keep any logs for if the website address in your profile is changed, so I’m not able to tell you when that changed or who changed it.
