You can use one gravatar image for each username account. It will apply to all sites referred under the same username account. And, the Gravatar help link is http://en.gravatar.com/support/

Gravatar/blavatar (favicon) images do not show up instantly after uploading them. Gravatar images are cached and frequently take several days to display after a change. The accepted file types are:
.jpg/.jpeg
.gif
.pngDo not forget to select an image rating.
Know that other bloggers can choose not to display any “erotic” gravatar’s on their site.To enable Gravatar display and hovercard display on your blog go to Dashboard > Settings > Discussion

Actually it seems the photo will NEVER show up. After uploading the first photo, I set the rating to PG. But as I noticed that the photo wouldn’t show up, I decided to change the rating to G. One day has passed and the photo won’t show up. The problem is that the system still recognizes its rating as PG despite being changed to G by me.
So recently I uploaded a new photo and set the rating to G. Now it shows up on my website.
