My Published Posts Have Reverted to Unfinished Drafts.
I deleted a few posts from years ago so that I could recycle my page into a new blog.
Last Sunday, I wrote half a post in the morning, and then finished it at night and posted it.
Last night I wrote about 1/4 of a post, and then finished it this afternoon and published it.
I shared the links, I had visitors. I read the published versions of both posts this evening.
A few minutes ago I logged onto the app on my phone, and hit the home button, and both posts were gone. Instead, I have the 1/2 and 1/4 typed up drafts in my Draft Folder, but no posts. Where did they go?!!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I can’t find the link to the specific blog from last week (I just shared the Blog itself, but the post was there and had over 50 views)
From today: https://iwanttoblogwithsamson.wordpress.com/2018/05/07/week-2-day-1/
They are 100% gone. I also don’t know why the post says 05/07, considering today is the 6th, but regardless that is the link directly from the blog when it was published today.

When I try to open this page- https://iwanttoblogwithsamson.wordpress.com/2018/05/07/week-2-day-1/,
it says ‘Page Not Found’.
This seems like a serious issue.
I’ll flag this post as requiring staff attention by adding ‘modlook’ in tags. Staff is much better equipped to help you with this.
Hold tight! -
Hi Samson,
There is a draft version of your “Week 2 – Day 2” post here:
https://wordpress.com/posts/drafts/iwanttoblogwithsamson.wordpress.com
“Week 1 – Day 1” was published as a private post but the content you created is still there:
https://wordpress.com/posts/iwanttoblogwithsamson.wordpress.com
I hope this helps.
-
No, that is what is wrong.
Both versions went from being fully produced published posts and reverted back to incomplete drafts! Week 2 – Day 1 was 4x as long, had an image, and was done, posted, shared, and viewed.
Same with Week 1 – Day 1. The only reason that there is a “private” version is when this happened last night, I hit publish on the draft (I was confused why it was back as a draft) only to realize it was not the complete post, so I hid it until this is fixed.
These were BOTH FINISHED AND POSTED. Why did it revert them back to nothing???

Hi –
Have you looked in the trash yet? There are 5 posts in your Trash bin.
https://wordpress.com/posts/trashed/iwanttoblogwithsamson.wordpress.com
Those can be republished from the trash bin.
Is it possible that someone else has access to your username + password and accessing your account. I’d strongly suggest that you change that now and enable 2 factor authentication on the account.
-
Wow.
This has been the most useless support I have ever received from any company ever, and I was a comcast customer for years.
Yes, I know there are blogs in my trash. Those are old and if you read the very first sentence I wrote in my question, it mentions that I deleted all old posts. Those are them.
No one else has access to my account. Even if they did, it would have been literally impossible for them to REVERT my completed posts, back to an old saved draft version.
The only thing that I can think that impacted this was the use of multiple devices.
I originally started my drafts with my phone, and then later at home I finished the drafts, set them all up and published them. I did this with both posts.
A few hours AFTER I PUBLISHED my 2nd post, I opened my phone to check stats, and that is where I noticed that both blogs reverted back to drafts.
FOR THE RECORD:
– I did not unpublish my posts
– NO one knows my information
– I 100% am certain that both posts were published, as I had views, and even talked with friends who have read them
– I know the links don’t work, for christ sake, THAT IS WHAT THIS POST IS ABOUT.I am just about to delete everything I have with this useless platform and find one that works, and at least has halfway decent support.

Hi –
There are 4 different sites on the account. Here’s what I can see on each one.
1. iwanttoblogwithsamsondotcom.wordpress.com (no posts)
2. iwanttoblogwithsamson.wordpress.com
Drafted Post: Week 2 – Day 2
Published but private post: Week 1 – Day 1
Trashed Posts: (no title), Super Tuesday, The Name Game, Week 1 – Day 3, Season Four Premier…
3. slippyslappysamsonite.wordpress.com
There are 12 posts on this blog. 10 published, 1 private, 1 draft.
4. storiesbysamson.wordpress.com
There are 3 draft posts only here. January, February, and March.
Are you going to morph these in to one site on Wix? If so, you’ll need to create an export for each site.
More details are here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/export/
You’ll need to register a new site address at Wix since your free site addresses here aren’t able to be redirected.
I’m happy to answer any other questions you have about the missing posts or about transferring.

Sigh.
This. Whole. Thing. Is about the 2nd one. I’ve mentioned that. And I know that there is a private and a draft. Because as I mentioned, WordPress took two, 100% completed, shared, and viewed poets, UN FRICKEN PUBLISHED THEM and then that is the result.
Can anyone please look at this issue and stop just reading back to me what I originally put in my question?
I KNOW THERE IS A DRAFT. THAT IS THE WHOLE GOD DANG ISSUE!!
I feel like I walked into a car repair shop, told them I’m having issue with my tire, because it fell off, and every certified mechanics response is “Oh, there’s the issue, your tire is off.”
THAT’S WHY I’M HERE!

Hi, we’re looking at our logs and while we do see that you (or someone logged in as you) trashed some posts about 2 weeks ago.
We don’t see any records of posts reverting from published to draft status, so as for why they showed up as drafts on your phone, it’s possible these posts were drafts on your phone at one point, and your phone didn’t get the “news” that they were trashed (which they were, two weeks ago) so it kept them as drafts. This was probably a sync glitch.
If you want the posts back, though, we recommend heading to trashed and untrashing them before the trash empties automatically and they are deleted permanently.
So if this were my account, first I would go here:
https://wordpress.com/posts/trashed/iwanttoblogwithsamson.wordpress.comI would restore those items.
Then I would open the app and delete the drafts there. Then check the site once more to see that the posts are where they are supposed to be.
Finally, I would change your password. I know you said you didn’t knowingly give anyone access, but if you did not delete those posts, someone else has access. You might have left yourself logged in somewhere.

I missed a step, sorry. After going to the trashed posts link, you’ll want to restore the posts from the trash. I added that step in, but just in case you only get the email notification, here are the steps once more:
1 – Go here: https://wordpress.com/posts/trashed/iwanttoblogwithsamson.wordpress.com
2 – Restore your posts from the trash (these were deleted 2 weeks ago by your account.)
3 – Open the app and delete the drafts from your phone (since they aren’t synced properly to the posts you had trashed earlier)
4 – Check the site to ensure everything is published now (if not, let us know; we’ll help you get it ironed out.)
5 – Change your password to ensure security. You’d be welcome to take this step first, too.

I am seriously going insane here.
Ignore the trash, those are all ACTUALLY trashed blog posts.
Two posts specifically:
Week 1 – Day 1 (which is currently set to private, because IMMEDIATELY after it was sent back to draft, I re-published it. I then realized that it was not complete, so I hid it).
and
Week 2 – Day 2 (which is in my “draft” folder. It was 100% complete and posted, but it is now back in it’s draft form instead of published. Also about 90% of the blog itself is missing).
EVEN under my stats, it has View counts for this post. How could it have views if it is only a draft?
Please, for the love of god, stop troubleshooting this like I’m someone who doesn’t understand tech and believe what I am saying. THERE. IS. A. TECH. ISSUE. HERE. NOT. USER. ERROR.
I Posted BOTH posts listed above. They were 100% complete and posted (I can’t believe I am having to write this for the 6th time, but not a single one of you “staff” is actually reading what I am writing, so maybe the 6th time is the charm). I then logged into my phone, it glitched, and all of a sudden my completed posts were instantly reverted back to draft status (despite having been posted, viewed, and shared). THEN when I looked at them, they were not only “unpublished” they were ALSO only about 20% of what the actual post was.
It’s like I saved a draft, we’ll call that Draft A of post 1. Then later I finished post 1. A week later, I saved a draft of post 2, we’ll call that Draft B. Then, after BOTH WERE POSTED AND SHARED AND VIEWED AND YOUR OWN STATS PAGE CONFIRMS THIS, I logged into my phone for a moment, and somehow both post 1 and post 2 were back tagged as drafts, and incomplete as Drafts A and B.
I cannot make this any clearer that you are all ignoring the FACTS here and trying to troubleshoot something that is clearly above your station.
I don’t even care anymore because I am done with this site. I cannot trust a site that randomly reverts posts, and then absolutely every person who looks into it troubleshoots it like I’m a 3 year old on a an etch-a-sketch. It’s insulting, it’s embarrassing for WP, and frankly, it’s a little pathetic that this is what passes for customer service.
I had planned on purchasing a domain and re-routing it through WP, but I have been completely turned off by this experience. It’s pitiful and I am forever scorned by this sad excuse for attempting a resolution.
I’ve already made a purchase elsewhere and linked it to my brand new Wix account, because they at least appear to have a smidgen of competence.
If for some reason (based on my interactions thus far, I doubt it) anyone cares to actually get to the bottom of this (Because this is a big F-ing tech issue you have on your hands if blogs can just go missing), then I will gladly lend more information to try and understand. But to all you armchair technicians out there, find a new line of work.

Just a thought but have you checked all revisions to see if there are more complete versions of your posts under “history” https://en.support.wordpress.com/editors/page-post-revisions/
-
It’s been almost a week, and it took this long for anyone to even mention this as an idea (i had never know this was a thing, since I work from my phone normally, I never saw the history tag at the top).
Instead of actually trying to troubleshoot the problem, I had numerous staff members try and explain to me things that were obviously not the problem (and had they read my posts, would have seen that).
I still have no idea how this happened, and it is still a big problem, but themagicrobot, your revision method DID find both my posts. And the time stamp was the exact time that I logged into my phone.
So somehow, after posting a blog for a week, and another one for a few hours, logging into the app on my phone reverted both posts back to their old versions. However, both were saved in my revisions draft.
Reason for it happening: No idea, and staff doesn’t want to acknowledge a legitimate issue exists.
Fix for problem: themagicrobot’s advice helped me find my lost posts.
Now only if someone had given me this advice a few days ago instead of asking me the blog support equivalent of “did you turn it on?”, I may not have taken my business elsewhere already.
Thank you still, TMR.
