My PW keeps getting rejected even after many re-attempts

Well, it is clear that I don’t understand much of this AND don’t know how to proceed.

I would like to do whatever it takes to simply be able to comment on an article.

    That is all.

If I need to delete accounts or change emails or stand on my head, so be it.

I just need to know specifically what to do, because I have tried throwing things (metaphorically) against the wall and nothing works.

Because I don’t have an innate understanding of what needs to be done.

What needs to be done at this point in time is for you to wait patiently for Staff to work their way through threads tagged for their attention from those with the earliest dates to this one. Then they will assist you with sorting this out. Deleting here is permanent. Delete nothing and please just subscribe to the thread, find something else to do and wait for Staff assistance.

    Hi herzco,

First of all, it looks like you are able to log into the herzco account just fine, since you are posting here. That’s a good thing! :)

What’s happening is that when you go to comment on a blog on WordPress.com or using Gravatars, the blog will try to connect to your WordPress.com/Gravatar account.

It looks like you do have two separate accounts, one at herzco and one at beth624, with different email addresses associated with each one.

When you try to comment on another blog, are you able to change the email address to the one associated with the herzco account? (You should be able to – your browser is just autofilling the field based on cookies). Just be sure you’re using that and not the other address, and you should be okay.

Just know that if you’re trying to comment with the email address that’s associated with beth624, you will need to log into that account, and your password for herzco will not work.

    Hi Jackie!

That seems to have worked!!! Unbelievable! So I guess one is supposed to add *all* of their various emails to their gravatar account – would that be correct?

Also, if I have more than one email, am I supposed to also add those to my regular WordPress account?

Thank you SO much for your well worded response – I appreciate it so much.

    Hi herzco,

    Glad I could help!

You can add your different emails to Gravatar, yes. Even better will be to keep in mind that you now have two accounts. This can get confusing, especially if you regularly use both email addresses, so making a note of it is a good idea for when you get them mixed up. I’ve been in your shoes, and while it all makes sense now, a year from now you might be trying to remember which is which all over again. :)

So now that I somehow created two accounts which will surely make for further confusion as I know I will not know what to do if this happens later ;-) would you happen to know what I can do now to streamline things? (I just do not retain this type of info so better for me to simplify things before problems occur again)

So do I need to delete an account or something? Curious what you suggest.

    Thanks again,
    B

While you can’t actually delete an account, you can ostensibly abandon the non-herzco account and not use it in the future.

This document explains this process more:

    Hi there,

Again – Sorry to be *still* not understanding this, but I was asked initially to put in my WordPress password which eventually worked.

And yet, I still could not comment on this article, ostensibly because of some thing related to Gravatar? ???

In no place was the site or even word Gravatar mentioned so I would have no idea that I was supposed to enter a different set of data into the username and password.

So is it just going to always be close to impossible in the future to comment on things? If I have no idea what info to input because I am not being asked for the correct stuff, I am at a loss for what to do.

Can you possibly specify WHERE i went wrong so I can know how to not repeat it again?

    I truly have no idea.

    Many, many thanks.

    Hi herzco,

When you go to comment, are you logged in under herzco already, or filling out the comment form with the email associated with this account?

Gravatar won’t be mentioned specifically. What happens is that when you comment on a post anywhere that uses Gravatar (or is on WordPress.com) and it asks for your contact info, if you use an email address that’s associated with a WordPress.com/Gravatar account (they’re the same thing), you’ll need to log into that account. We do that so that no one else can comment using your email address in the form.

If you use the email address associated with your other non-herzco account, you’ll have to log in as that user. My guess is that this is where all the confusion originates.

It may be easiest to change that account’s email address to something entirely different so you don’t run into this problem. If that email address is in fact your primary one, once it’s freed up and isn’t used on that account, you can change the address on herzco.

Let me know if that makes sense, and if it’s what you want to do, and I’ll send you an email with more specific info I don’t want to include in a public post.
