My reader

Happening to me, too. All of my browsers are updated, firewalls off, add-ons and extenstions off, tried it on a Mac and PC at different locations, cleared cache — all the things you’re supposed to try. Still nothing works on the main page. This is a system error by WordPress. WordPress needs to fix it. It would be nice to hear from WordPress about when a solution will be forthcoming.

My reader hasn’t been working for several days either. I cleared the cache and cookies, disabled all extensions/add-ons. Tried the traceroute (mentioned in an earlier, similar thread) and only got: “traceroute: unknown host http://wordpress.com”
I can log in to wordpress.com, but none of the tabs is working (reader, notifications, create a blog, freshly pressed).
Tried on Safari, Firefox, Chrome–none works. Help!

I also tried different browsers and cleared the cache. It still doesn’t work. Do they actually read these threads? Obvisouly, it’s a problem with their site/server. I hope they can get it fixed soon.

@recoveringow: for helpful staff responses/interaction, check out a similar thread at https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/reader-not-working-again/

@ldewis: Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, nothing there is new or useful. It’s the same suggestions over and over again. They. Don’t. Work.
Time for WordPress to figure out what’s wrong and *fix the problem* and stop suggesting that it’s something wrong with browsers, updates, or our computers. Many, many people are having this problem, so it’s a system-wide issue.

I SO agree with Zurichmike — I’ve done everything suggested, used two different browers. I don’t think the problem is me. How can I email tech support directly? I don’t have a blog, but I’m an avid reader. Right now I can’t read any blogs, and I can’t create one. Please, can someone believe us and help?

If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.
Note: If you are using an IE9 browser in compatibility mode that makes it render as IE7 and IE7 is not supported. To disable see > http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html
If you are, running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please do these four things:
1. Try clearing your browser’s cache http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050
2. Make sure that you have third-party cookies enabled http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/
3. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.
4. Try enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/
If you are not successful let us know which browser (and version of it) you’re using and post any error reports you get.

P.S. There are over 35 million of us and most are not experiencing this issue. I have no trouble believing you folks have an issue that’s specific to your own computing environment. Without you providing the exact details with regard to your individual computing environment (connectivity, operating system, browser and version, browser add-ons and extensions, settings, security programs, etc.) it’s next to impossible t to determine what is causing the problem and how to remedy it.

@recoveringow: I was having the same problem (reader not working), but got direct help from a staff member on the other thread I mentioned earlier (https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/reader-not-working-again/). Result: my reader is now working again! I’d recommend posting there with the specifics of your situation. Good luck!
