My Reader doesn't show any posts from the blogs I follow

  My Reader is completely blank and doesn’t show any posts from the blogs I follow.
  What could cause this?

  Also, I get a lot of notifications that I should upgrade my browser (YouTube, Weheartit, etc), though I’ve already been using IE9 for quite some time.
