My redirect is trying to map to non-existant pages

Hi – I just bought the redirect service from my old wordpress.com site (jillywelch.wordpress.com), which I’ve set up to direct to my new site (www.styleseed.co.uk, based on WP). The top level mapping works fine.

The issue is that certain old wordpress.com pages do not have an equivalent on the new site, so strange blank pages are being mapped to. Without rearchitecting my new site to the old sites’ structure, how can I prevent this happening? Can I force the redirect to map just to my new homepage?

Of specific concern is that one old wordpress.com page ranks highly for my name ‘Jilly Welch’ (with the long and now redundant url jillywelch.wordpress.com/author/jillyfish/‎)…which now maps to a blank ‘author archive’ on my new site. Yuck!

OK, I’ve now created a ghost page to support mapping from the old author page to my new site. Still doesn’t work :-( Thoughts?
