My RSS Feed

I’m very new at the whole RSS feed thing. How can I add a RSS icon and link to my site (so that it is visible) – so that others can add my feed to their RSS readers?

thr’s no need to add your rss feed link for anyone to subscribe to it. if they want to, all they have to do is type your blog url at the feed aggregator site they are registered to (like bloglines or feedster etc) and it will find your feed.

I understand that, but I would like something visible on my site suggesting that they use RSS, a visible reminder. How do I do that?

a text widget? at the meta thr is a link to your rss feed as well.

That answers my question – exactly what I wanted. Thank you!

    glad i could help =)

i just realise thr’s stg called a rss text widget besides the text widget, that’s more of what you’re looking for i think.

umh – well! I didn’t manage to achieve it. Using Theme “contempt 1.0”, created 3 RSS-Widgets for my sidebar. Each RSS-widget shall be a feed to an own Categorie. In “Presentation->Themes->SidebarWidgets->RSSWidget” I entered in the “RSS URL FEED”: pscnordwest.wordpress.com/category/Services/feed/
(as it should be??!!) to link to a category called “Services”.
The Widget appears correctly, but if it is clicked no XML-Feed is opend – it only reloads the whole BlogURL!
    Need Help!

An URL by defination includes the ‘http://’ portion. It appears you may have forgotten it. :)

Nope. The complete link I’ve entered for “Service”-Category eg:
but it doesn’t work (yet)! Any more suggestions?

Please don’t double post. It’s not cool and just creates more work for those trying to help people here in the forums.

    Correct URL would be:

    http: //pscnordwest.wordpress.com/tag/services/feed/

A space was added after the colon to get it to show up here. You need to remove it when you use the URL.

The standard version of WordPress uses the ‘category’ bit.

And to close this thread (there’s nothing better, eh?):
    There is a CONTEMPT-trick:
The RSS-Widget creates an orange RSS-icon, followed by the link description. The icon holds the correct Link to the feed, the desctiption itself ONLY links the home-channel, which in fact is “http://www.THEBLOG.wordpress.com”.
A “silly” user of course recognizes the underlined discription and want to use this as a RSS-URL, which in fact does not work. Tricky!!!
Better: Create a Category link (or use the widget) and type all wanted categoryfeeds in “Dashboard->Bookmarks->Add Bookmark”.

Thx for the encouraged help to Dr.Mike and sorry for double-posting (in fact the last post in the 2nd category deals with the same problem, so I thought…. :D )

    Enjoy!

    Greets:

Don’t use the ‘www’ in your URLs. ‘THEBLOG’ should be taking the place of it. The *.com TLD only allows for three names within the host name except for special situations. Some DNS servers won’t take it when it’s four and your site will not be visitable by some.
