My sidebar (and all widgets) has been deleted…?

    HI,

    I just discovered today that my entire sidebar is missing. I went to my widgets page just to see wth and all of my widgets have been deleted. Everything was fine a few days ago, I haven’t made any changes to the blog. Not sure why this happened but I’m pretty upset about it. I did clear my cache, cookies and history to no avail.

    Hi Johanna,

    It appears as if two days ago you adjusted your theme. The updated Eventtbrite theme doesn’t have the exact same code as the old one. This deactivated your widgets. However, you can drag and drop them where you want them. To do this, click the link below:
    https://epicbookquest.wordpress.com/wp-admin/widgets.php

    Scroll toward the bottom of the page and you’ll see your inactive or deactivated widgets. Drag those into your sidebar as you’d like.

    First of all, thanks so much, I was able to successfully recover all my widgets :) :) :)

    I do have another question though… did this update happen automatically, or…? I have been very sick lately and certainly haven’t had an opportunity to adjust my theme, so just kind of wondering how this happened.

    Also, if it was automatic, is there any way to get a notification of future updates so I can get the heads up?

    YAY! So glad you got those back. I appreciate that you let me know.

    It’s very rare that something like this would happen, but it seems some major fixes were made on the Eventbrite themes. I think while you were sick, your theme may have been updated. It’s unusual that anything would happen to your widgets when this took place, and I’m very sorry you faced that inconvenience. I’ll look into this and make sure it doesn’t happen again. You should indeed be notified if anything might impact the aesthetics of your site. You have my apologies!
