My sidebar does not show ALL of my categories!
-
Help? Not all of my categories show up on my sidebar. I’ve seen other blogs with tons more categories than I have. Is it a Twenty Ten cap of 16 (seems like an odd number though) categories? I tried to see if I could up the number shown and didn’t find anything. Thanks for any help!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Have the categories that are not showing been assigned to a published post yet? Categories without published posts will not show in the categories widget since if they did they would produce errors when someone clicked on the (nothing for wordpress to show the visitor).
-
Yes, there were some posts assigned to the categories not showing. I just now tried putting one of them under a parent category and now it shows 17 on the sidebar…maybe that might be the cure. ? Thanks for your input, thesacredpath!

Shouldn’t be necessary. If you have 700 categories with posts assigned to them, all 700 should show in the categories widget.
What are some of the missing category names?

“Reserves” shows this when I try to visit that category page:
Category Archives: Reserves
Not Found
Apologies, but no results were found for the requested archive. Perhaps searching will help find a related post.Which means there are no published posts assigned to that category.
-
Is the post in Reserves by chance a “scheduled” post that has not yet appeared on the blog?
-
…and you’re right. I just noticed there are no posts in that category… then noted that the posts I have placed in Reserves category are all private (until I edit them to perfection), maybe private posts have something to do with it.
-
Yes, private posts don’t count as far as the categories widget is concerned. Again since the posts are private, if someone were to click on the category, it would return the above error.
-
OK, yes I just saw your last note. It’s not scheduled, but it is private.
HOWEVER, I had some posts in another category that would not show up on sidebar UNTIL I placed that category under a parent category. I don’t get it but it seems to work now, so thanks for your time!!! -
