My sidebars.
-
I have always liked the old way of how my blog looked but now the sidebars have been upgraded and I’d like them back to how they were but I haven’t a clue how to do that. Any help would be appreciated.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I do not know what you mean by sidebars being upgraded. I do know you are using a very old retired theme and themes are retired when they no longer support all wordpress.COM features. The recommendation is to upgrade to a newer theme.
See 13 White + Light + Three Columns WordPress Themes at
https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/white+light+three-columns/?sort=freere: switching themes
Note that switching themes https://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/#switch-themes can be easily done, provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the site. Themes are just “skins” on WordPress.COM hosted blogs. You can quickly and easily change themes on any WordPress.COM hosted blog to another one found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and no data will be lost or negatively affected by the change. The only time you may have to do a lot of work is if you are changing to a dramatically different theme with different features and/or if you have done any CSS editing.
Provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the blog go to Dashboard > Appearance > Themes, Browse themes until you find one you like and click the “activate” or the “preview” link, or type in the name of the theme you want to use when it appears.
The theme customizer https://en.support.wordpress.com/customizer/ provides a preview function for exactly that purpose ie. so you can view what a theme will appear like prior to changing one.
P.S. I see both a right hand and left hand sidebar here http://morethancoping.wordpress.com/
If you cannot see them make sure you are running an up to date browser version found at https://browsehappy.com
Try clearing your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache
Read all the tips here https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/
Try another browser.
If you are not successful please provide this specific info:
(a) Exactly what kind of device you are using to connect to the internet and to WordPress.com.
(b) Exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://supportdetails.com/Then type modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread for a Staff follow-up. I tried a three column white theme and messed things up. My header is gone and comments don’t show. I’m not sure what to do.
-
Okay. I’m going to tell you that I would not have chosen that very complex and difficult to set up theme. I would chose:
https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/able/ and set up two sidebars. My header is gone
Every theme that has a custom header option specifies the size of the custom header image.
For Able:
Custom Header
The header image dimensions are 1280 by flexible value (width, height). The header must be shown at 1280 wide but any height will do. -
comments don’t show
On your old theme you placed the Recent Comments widget in the right hand sidebar. https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/recent-comments-widget/
https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/#adding-and-configuring-widgetsUse the theme customizer https://en.support.wordpress.com/customizer/

thank you for your patience timethief. I went with your suggestion. My right sidebar is gone. I don’t know how to fix that.
The picture I had at the top of my blog when we began…… is it possible to still use it.?
The font and posts are way too big. Again I don’t know what to do there.
I’ve had this blog going on nine years and took some time off and things changed and I seem to have forgotten everything. Any help is deeply appreciated.

Is it the size that the new theme requires? -
I live in southern california and we just had a power outage. I’ll try to see what I can do.
-
Yes I do. I’d like to make the sidebars smaller in font as they take up a lot of space. Also the font in the body of my site could also be smaller which would include the title of each post.
Is there anything I can do to make my blog “less white?”
Also it seems when I post songs it takes a little bit of time for them to go from a black screen to where the song actually appears. Any reason for that?
We’re recovering from the storm yesterday. Sorry I have been slow to respond.
Again, I haven’t been able to figure out how to do the above. Thanks for any suggestions you have. Oh yeah……are there other three column themes that are free.
-
For now I’d like to reduce the space the sidebars take up and to make the font for the sidebars and in my posts a little smaller.
The sidebar on the right has duplicate assorted music sites, links, etc. Can’t figure how to remove duplicates.
I added a light blue that shows up now but beyond that I don’t know if I can do any more.
-
@erunner you would need a plan that supports CSS. Also, bear mind if you make the fonts too small, fewer people will be able to read them. It’s already quite small on my monitor. Is there any chance you already have your browser’s default font size set a bit larger?
-
supernovia, the font size I’m seeing as I type this was what my blog looked like before. On my desktop screen the font is quite large and shows there is room to make it smaller and maybe resolve this. Before this current Q&A with you the font was smaller but the other lady told me that I had an old and retired theme so I changed it and started this all.
I’m using google chrome 56 and I’ll look into that. Again, thank you for being patient with me.

I think I’m good for now with one more question. On my right sidebar all of the various categories of links repeats itself. I’ve got a calendar, music, bible study tools. etc. that are listed and then repeated. When I’ve gone and looked these aren’t all listed in the area where I can change things. So lastly I’d ask how to fix it. I believe I’ve asked and did follow instructions but came up empty. Thanks

When I go to the widgets area the left side is fine but on the right it only shows calendar, links, and then links again if that helps.
-
Head to My Site > Customize > Widgets > Right Sidebar . You have two “links” widgets, each displaying all links. Remove one of them & save your changes. Cheers!
-
You are the bomb!! Thank you. I imagine I’ll be back as things come up but thank you for bearing with me!!!! Allan
