  I attempted to get into my site today (www.detonatordj.com), and kept getting redirected to install WordPress, which I didn’t understand because I had already installed several months earlier. Well, in my haste to get in, and not realizing what was about to happen, I thought it was an update, so I installed it. And guess what? My site is gone in everything but name only. All my pages, my images – ghost. I don’t think I backed up anything. Would like some clarification as to exactly what happened.

  Since your question is related to WordPress.ORG and installing it.

  You have posted your issue in the wrong forum. This forum only supports the sites hosted on WordPress.COM and not elsewhere.

  Both(WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG) are different products. You can find out the differences between them here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
