My site and Dashboard are not loading (HTTP error 500)

As captioned, my site as well the Dashboard have been unresponsive for a couple of months.
The error_log from public_html folder shows this error:
PHP Fatal error: Array and string offset access syntax with curly braces is no longer supported in /home3/fgylmomy/public_html/index.php onI have tried following actions but no luck:
1. rename /public_html/wp-content/themes to force the default themes being used
2. rename /public_html/wp-content/plugins to force the default plugins being usedWP.com: Yes
