My site disappeared!

    Dear community,

All of the content of my site suddenly disappeared, both at it’s URL location (which now just shows ‘Internal Server Error’), but also inside of the WordPress builder. The name of the site is there, but none of the content. Every now and then it says ‘There was an error retrieving your site settings. Please make sure jetpack is up to date’. But then again, I can’t update jetpack either…
    Please advise!

  • Hi there,

The site you specified at http://www.beyondexperiments.org/ isn’t hosted at WordPress.com.

This support forum is for sites hosted at WordPress.com. Your question is about a self-hosted WordPress site and you’ll find help at the WordPress.org forums.

If you don’t understand the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org, you may find this information helpful.

  • Hi there,

It’s possible that the last Jetpack update did not complete, causing your site to break. Try logging in via FTP access at your hosting provider and delete the Jetpack folder, then reinstall Jetpack and you should be good to go.

If you need more help with this, you can contact Jetpack support directly here:

It’s also possible that a different plugin is causing this, or something else that went wrong on your site. In that case the WordPress.org forums are the best place to go, as @fstat indicated above.

Yeah, I do suspect it’s related to jetpack. I’ll try that. Thanks!

  • Don’t hesitate to get in touch with the Jetpack team though if you run in to any other trouble.
