My Site Disappeared!
-
My site (jaymatthewbarnes.com) has disappeared. It was last up and running on September 28th 2022 according to Jetpack. My host is Bluehost and they are telling me that I need to contact my DNS provider and have them update the A Record but I can no longer login to the backend of jaymatthewbarnes.com.
Can anyone help?

Hey there,
Thanks for reaching out. jaymatthewbarnes.com isn’t hosted with WordPress.com, so our support is limited.
It looks like Bluehost is domain registrar – is that correct?
Also, I can’t see that the site is down, instead it’s producing a 500 error, which is indicates something has failed to load.
Do you have access to the site via SFTP – if yes, deactivating some of the plugins may solve this issue there.
To explain further, WordPress.com is a fully managed hosting provider and use a custom server environment that is optimized for WordPress, provides built-in security and performance improvements, as well as in-house support for your site questions.
Because of the way we’ve optimized our service, we also use a customized version of WordPress that is different (under the hood) from what you use at Bluehost. As a result, we do not have access to your site and are not familiar with the source of your issue.
You definitely have the option to move your site to us so we can provide in-house help, using our migration plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wpcom-migration/ and the site would need to be on the business plan.
I’m hoping this is useful knowledge so far.

The only issue with your response is that I used to login to my website through WordPress. I had access to the back end through WordPress as recently as February of this year.
Something changed between February and now that doesn’t allow me the same WordPress admin access I once had.

Hi there,
Apologies, but as my colleague mentioned above, we can’t help with your issue directly because we don’t host jaymatthewbarnes.com on our WordPress.com managed hosting.
We use a different version of WordPress from the one that is in use at Bluehost. The error message you are seeing for your site (HTTP ERROR 500) is not one that we have on WordPress.com sites due to the custom server environment we use.
The good news is that help is available here at the open-source WordPress forums: https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting
For sites like yours that are using the open-source version of WordPress from wordpress.org, it’s not possible to log in until you clear this error. The folks in that forum are more familiar with these kinds of issues and are in the best position to help.
Hope this helps point you in the right direction!
