My site froze up. I cant save my latest post!!

my site doesn’t save automatically when i’m writing it’s just stuck at ‘saving’ and when i finished my post and chose a category the site completely froze up and i can’t click cancel because it’s been ‘saving’ for 2 days now. i opened a new wordpress tab to find out that my post is not saved at all. so i’m just stuck on that frozen page.

like i said, when i open a new wordpress page it works just fine, it’s just that single tab which i cant close because it didn’t save my writing and the site has a “Add a new category” window opened for when i wanted to create one and it’s constantly “saving” when i click cancel to exit out of this little window nothing happens because it’s frozen. is there a way i can actually retrieve my writing?

If only one browser tab is frozen while the editor works fine in other tabs it’s more likely that the problem is in the browser than with WordPress.com.
Can you select the text in the editor on that tab? If you can, copy it using Cmd-C and paste it into a new post in a different tab. If you can’t select text to copy it, try taking a screen shot of it using Cmd-Shift-6. But we can’t do anything from our end to retrieve information your browser isn’t sending to our servers.
For what site is this, by the way? The last post published on http://typicalshay.wordpress.com/ was in October last year, and the last draft was created in January.

I think it’s from the browser, the thing is i can barely see what i’ve written since i have this small built in window on top, i cant click “cancel” because it’s stuck in “saving..” is there any way i could retreive it?

I don’t know what you’re referring to here. There shouldn’t be any pop-ups in the editor. Can you try taking a screen shot and adding it your media library, here:

I don’t see any drafts in your site’s posts list, so that information hasn’t made it to us from your browser yet. If you’re completely unable to get to the text in that browser tab your only option is to completely quit your browser and hope some of it was saved in the cache once you restart.

i posted the image. there isn’t any drafts because apparently it has been “saving..” throughout the whole time i was typing. it didn’t actually say “saved” as a draft like it usually does. i had to upload using chrome because i think the trouble is within the browser i used. Safari.

Hmm, okay. It looks like the category selection box didn’t load properly, causing it to freeze.
At this point all you can do is refresh that tab, or restart the browser, and hope some of your content is saved in the browser itself. Otherwise, there’s nothing we can do from this end.
I user a browser extension in Firefox called Lazarus that saves content you type into online text boxes so it can be retrieved in the case of a browser misbehaving like this. It won’t help you in this case, but it’s something you can consider to prevent losing content due to a browser malfunction in future.
