My site is down

  Hello,

  My site and other WordPress sites for the matter, seem to be down. I’ve been trying to access posts for past day or so but it says “Site can’t be reached”. But somehow I still had few visitors. Maybe it’s regional thing? I’m located in Georgia, the country.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi,

  I can see chemodani.wordpress.com that is up. I can access posts also.
  Ping works fine.

  Please let me know what exactly is the message you are seeing.

  For Chrome browser, it says “Site can’t be reached”. For Safari, it says “server cannot be found”. I tried different browsers and devices. Even other WordPress pages won’t open. Interestingly, I switched off Wifi to 4G internet and then it opened. But other websites except WordPress are working fine under the Wifi.

  Wordpress.com certainly isn’t offline. It’s definitely a connection problem somewhere upstream your internet provider.

  Hi there,

  As others suggested on the thread, your site isn’t down, and the issue is most likely with your internet connection and/or your ISP.

  I recommend restarting your router, and if the issue isn’t resolved, contact your ISP and ask them if they’re blocking traffic to your site or to WordPress.com in general.

  If your ISP is restricting access to WordPress.com, here’s how to bypass it:

  I contacted WiFi provider (same as my 4G mobile internet provider) and they checked, reset everything, but still nothing is working.

  When I switch to 4G mobile internet, it works, but when I’m on wifi with the same device, it does not. I’ve tried multiple devices and browsers, but problem remains the same. Through other wifi locations (my office, neighbour, etc) it works perfectly well, so problem is with my WiFi and WordPress connection somehow. Wifi provider says there is no problem on their end.

  Can there be like a ban or something on my IP address? All other websites are functioning well.

  I’m sorry about that. That sounds frustrating. :(

  Would you please run a traceroute for us by following the steps at https://wordpress.com/support/browser-issues/advanced-browser-troubleshooting/#traceroutes ?

  Also, do you have any issues when using a VPN or Tor? https://wordpress.com/support/bypassing-internet-restrictions/

  I tried traceroute on Mac and output is just ‘traceroute: unknown host chemodani.wordpress.com’.

  I’ve never used VPN or Tor, not completely sure how. I’m not in any areas with restrictions (although Georgia is geographically close to Russia). I have not had issues with any other websites either.

  Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

  @chemodani that sounds like an error at the DNS level, but I’m surprised you can post here but not visit that site. Your network may have some selective blocking, and it might wise to reach out to your internet provider or network admins.

  Let’s try a few other types of domains in a trace route:

  traceroute -I twentytwentytwodemo.wordpress.com

  traceroute -I onlyatest.tech.blog

  (that is I as in Ice Cream)

  You can even try traceroute -I wordpress.com to see what turns up.

  This should help us see whether the issues is with every .wordpress.com subdomain, or perhaps with subdomains in general.
