My site is down after clicking on SEO ‘You have 1 notification’

  Please help me get my site back up and running. I was in my dashboard and updated some plugins and my theme (all went well doing this). Then I clicked on SEO You have 1 notification on the tool bar along the top… and my site went down with this message: Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Check back in a minute. Many minutes have passed. Can you help get it back up (and explain what has happened?). Thanks.
