My site is down after uploading a plugin
-
Hi there
Hope that might be able to help.
My wordpress website lmadcollection.com went down (back and front ends are down) while I was loading a woo commerce plug-in. After calling my web hoster, Hetzner they managed to get a more descriptive error message:
_Fatal error: Call to undefined function rest_is_ip_address() in /usr/www/users/lmadcuewwk/wp-content/plugins/woocommerce/includes/class-wc-geolocation.php on line 175_
They suggested I contact a developer at WordPress to help me fix the problem so that I can get my site back up.
Please let me know your thoughts,
Lucy -
hi,
WordPress comes in two flavors: WordPress.com and WordPress.org.
With WordPress.org, you use the self-hosted, open source version of the WordPress software, it means you host your own blog. It also means you can freely upload and install themes and plugins, edit the code behind your site, have access to your site’s database, etc.
But you also have take care of maintenance tasks like backups, software upgrades, security, etc. With WordPress.com instead, you don’t have to download software, pay for hosting, or manage a web server. WordPress.com takes care of all of the hostings, security, backup. etc. You have some limitations with a free plan (you can’t upload any custom themes, plugins or modify the code behind your blog), but some of those options are available with an Upgraded Plan.
For more information on the differences between the two, please check this support page:

Hi Lucy,
If you have a paid WooCommerce upgrade, you can create a support ticket from this page:
https://woocommerce.com/contact-us/
Otherwise, you can post to the WordPress.org support forums for advice about what could be causing this error:
https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/woocommerce
Best of luck getting this resolved.
