my site is down – FATAL ERROR

  I have tried connecting to my site http://www.heraldsinc.com and get the following message

  Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 41943040 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 49152 bytes) in /home/heraldsinc/public_html/wp-admin/includes/plugin.php on line 877

  why is this the case and how can i fix this? I cannot even access wordpress settings to check the site out
