My site is redirecting visitors to a spam site

  Several people have written to tell me that when they try to visit my site, they are either redirected to another site (not mine), or else their spam blocker catches it. I contacted my ISP but they said that whatever malicious code is doing that is in WordPress, not anything on their end. I would like to know how to get rid of it. (Also, I don’t have an earlier back-up to restore to so the solution can’t just be “restore an earlier version of your site.”)

  Also, folks have experienced that if they close these pop-ups/blocker messages and persist, they can visit my site and never see them again, which makes it hard to reproduce consistently. (So if you see it, take note because it will go away and you might not be able to see it again.)
