My Site is registered as owned by Wild West on WHOIS

    Greetings,

Last year, I lost my domain chefandsteward.com that has always been registered with WordPress due to not getting renewal notices.

Wordpress was able to intervene and help me get it back. I paid $80 + $18 and
the site was restored. However the WHOIS is pointing to WILD WEST, even though the site is accurately pointing to Liquid Web (my hosts)! And I was able to renew last week up to 2022.

Can you please intervene with this?

I need The WHOIS to be stating my name and company as we own the URL.

I wrote a support request #4282491 on Sept 8 and a11nmarg was assigned the ticket and has not responded.

I also have two other requests that I need resolved after this one.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The WHOIS states Wild West Domains, LLC is the registrar. When I take a look at Registrant Contact, it says organization:Chef & Steward, https://www.whois.com/whois/chefandsteward.com

  • Hi @chefandsteward

Is it possible you are mixing up your terminology here? The way domains work you point “name servers” to your host. You do not point the WHOIS though, as that is just public info about your domain, but does not manage the connection to your host.

With this in mind I can confirm that your domain is registered at WordPress.com (Wild West Domains is one of our registry partners) and currently has it’s name servers set to Liquid Web.

    ns.liquidweb.com
    ns1.liquidweb.com

Additionally when I visit chefandsteward.com I confirm that the site I see is one that is hosted on Liquid web, and also appears to load correctly from what I can judge:

You are seeing your site load correctly at chefandsteward.com when you visit as well?

I need The WHOIS to be stating my name and company as we own the URL.

Wild West Domains, LLC is correctly listed as your “registrar” on the public WHOIS info for your domain. This info is regulated, so it’s not within our ability to change it. However, as @staartmees correctly points out, “Chef & Steward” is shown as the registrant, which is as I would expect it to be.

You wish for your registrant contact to say something other than “Chef & Steward” perhaps?

Ok great thanks for the explanations.

Jerry, how can I get you guys to change the name servers?

  • You can change your domain’s name servers by following the steps at https://wordpress.com/support/move-domain/change-name-servers/
