    Hi; last year I paid 18$ in order to be able to manage the site by mapping my domain – using a domain I bought from my current provider. Is my payment registered somewhere ? and was that what you would call an upgrade ? btw – your instruction for domain mapping : I’m not able to trace the field ‘add a domain to this site’ anywhere.. hoping you could assist/help.     hi – csonnek – thank you for responding so quickly; the domain provided by the Norwegian ‘Domeneshop’ is http://www.landkjenning.org.

    When I try to follow instructions on WordPress in order to map this .org domain – specifically : ‘Use a Domain You Already Own (Domain Mapping)’

    and then try to get to the : My Site → Upgrades → Domains. — then my wordpress-‘domain’ never shows, and the field ‘Add a domain to this site’ does not show either.

    Last year I paid 18$ to WordPress and thought that was for an upgrading, but never found that anything had happened.

    Now hope you could maybe help me – would highly appreciate. Thanks a lot. Arvid. (I responded to you on email last night, but that one did obviously not reach you (undeliverable).

    On the screen, click “Just search for a domain,” and copy/paste landkjenning.org there.

    If you don’t see any options to continue with mapping that, please send over another screenshot.

    – macmanx : here is what happened – “if you upgrade to the Personal plan..” – sounds like I need to upgrade – which I thought I did late last year with the 18$.

    However, right beneath it says : “landkjenning.org is already registered. Do you own it?”
    That is absolutely correct, so if I click on that one, the next page reads like this :https://snipboard.io/BUZ62G.jpg

    My simple question then is : “velg” is Norwegian for “choose”/select – and if I do that, this will cost me another 18$ ? I gladly pay that, if necessary to go ahead.

    Hmm, it looks like you transferred the registration in some time ago, but that’s different from a plan upgrade. Then you transferred it back off our services.

    Can you clarify what you’re hoping to do?

    If you’re hoping to connect landkjenning.org to your WordPress.com site:

    – Start here: https://wordpress.com/plans

    – Pick any paid plan (Personal will do, plus it gets rid of ads and gives you direct support)

    – Choose to connect the domain landkjenning.org to the site. (It may also say “map” — we’re realizing “connect” is clearer)

    Then finish the purchase, and make sure the name servers for the domain are set properly:

    ns1.wordpress.com
    ns2.wordpress.com
    ns3.wordpress.com

    Can you try that? Or, if that isn’t your intent at all, can you clarify?

    hi – supernovia – that’s exactly what I hope/intend to do. Thank you so much for reaching out and sorry for not coming back earlier, but the night was nigh (6-7-8-9 hours ahead) and now back from work. So then I will give this a try. Does it matter whether my domain is with a Norwegian provider now ? And that the name servers need to be set with Domeneshop ? How long will it take from I make that upgrade to “Personal” and complete the “connecting” of my domain to the site, till I will have to set the name servers with Domeneshop ?

    This would have no impact.

    And that the name servers need to be set with Domeneshop ?

    Preferably you would need to use WordPress.com name servers and apply any required DNS settings here at WordPress.com.

    How long will it take from I make that upgrade to “Personal” and complete the “connecting” of my domain to the site, till I will have to set the name servers with Domeneshop ?

    The upgrade is instant, the time it takes for a domain to connect to WordPress.com is up to 72 hours.

    No backup necessary, the only thing that happens during mapping is the custom domain name will be applied to the existing site.

    thanx a lot for assistance with mapping of my domain – it worked out perfectly as advised by you staffers.

    Now : a tiny follow up question : if you could pls. enter my site http://www.landkjenning.org, you will find under the front page photo 4 major posts; and on the right hand side column, under the search field, every sub-page shows in sequence.

    That appears like a real bad solution; nobody would find that searchable..

    – could you pls. advise how my 4 major posts could reflect in that right hand side column, so that one could search from those 4 posts and that just one single sub-page – or maybe 2 – will show when button is accordingly pressed ?

    Hm, so the general issue these are Pages, not Posts.

    Pages are intended for static simple content, like an About page, a Contact page, etc.

    And, as pages, there’s not much that can be done to organize them.

    You have these in your menu now, and if folks hover over each Page, the sub-Pages appear. That seems to be a better solution, so I recommend simply removing the widget that lists all of the Pages in the sidebar.

    thanks for advise – I followed that one – and it works out very well. I removed the widget for the sidebar like you told I should.

    One other thing : will it be possible to install a print-icon on the page (each page) ? That would be awesome.
