If the original is unavailable it’s because someone else already owns it. You’ll need to pick from the pool of available site addresses. Feel free to register any site addresses of interest as there’s no limit on the number you can have on your account.

I own it. I purchased it from go daddy it is the site on word press that is incorrect. It should reflect http://www.hpesadvocates.com and then with the word press at the end. it reflects http://www.hopesadvocatecom.com it needs to be fixed

Also I was waiting for a response here and did not get alerted of the answer only by email. my apologies. it is illustrating I already know nothing of creating any of this and it was illustrating to try to fix. i know where to look for my answer now.

I just checked my whole site and everything is correct except the site address. where it links to my godaddy domain name and hosting. I click edit primary address and it wont work asks me to pay then says someone has that address and yes it is me. what do i do. I have wasted 2 days doing nothing on this. It is already hard to begin with. is there a fix for the edit address bar?

  • Hi –

If you already own the domain through another provider you’ll need to set up domain mapping with your WordPress.com account. That has not been done yet on this user account.

These are the step-by-step instructions to help you do that: https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/

I am not able to get help through these links and I am making more of a mess. I have a domain paid and the domain links is incorrect. i will not buy another domain. it is not correct when i type http://www.hopesadvocates.com what it should be then with the wordpress attached to it and it is not. I have to type http://www.hopesadvocatecom.com i just want to remove the extra com. it wont let me map it because i have the incorrect one mapped. can I just delete my account and go else where. i am wasting so much time days at that to fix this issue and i cant. It is mapped to the wrong location and if I cant remove that I have to pay for a new domain. i do not care if it has the word press at the end but the name is not correct. All I want to do is remove the extra com and keep everything else the way it is. now I’m trying to follow your directions on the link and creating all kinds of things i have no clue what to do. I will loose it all and start over because this is ridiculous. why is there not someone to walk me through making this correction and just want to charge me to map something that is mapped incorrectly. It is starting to get to frustrating.

Ok so for anyone who is just as confused as I am. I ended up creating all kinds of havoc on my just started word press. Oh Lord I was determined. So here it is in stupid terms for anyone like me starting out and is reading words but not understanding.

I purchased by Godaddy my domain and my host. I had word press on my phone and was new to it but loved it so decided I wanted my blog and web page there. So i set up a free one seeing that I am just starting and figured I would upgrade after if needed.

I went to Word Press set up my page and worked hard for days (not knowing what I was doing) setting up my page until i typed the name in the browser and it did not come up so i checked the settings. I then noticed it was not being directed and i have no clue what i am doing. My name was wrong and only when i typed the wrong name did i get my site.

So foolish foolish girl go so mad she was going to hit the delete button. I was getting angry and felt like i was on a stand still because if i went and worked harder would it be for nothing?

Well I read the above message and still didn’t understand as you can see and i was very annoyed at this point. Something told me to check into go daddy and as i did it stated my domain was just sitting there and to do something with it and I did. I linked the wrong name (which is not wrong, my newbees…it the name word press gives you to get as close as they can to your address name.) fear not….

what you need to do is link them by going to who you purchased from (for me godaddy) and add word press to the place where it says direct anyone who types your address to wordpress page and type it and done. OMG so freaking easy. now i am okay was creating correctly and can continue to work. i typed in my browser the correct name and boom there it was.

So if you have this issue after purchasing your host and domain and you set up word press but it wont link. stop go back to who you purchased the hosting or domain ( for me it it both the same ) and link it and your traffic will go to your site.

So forget the above message I did it…..Don’t get frustrated if your at this point ….. and your annoyed don’t click delete here is some normal terms to fix it.

even had someone out of the country try to help me and even then it made no sense. I knew what I needed just did not know how to do it. Every where it was read this read that but still didn’t understand.

  • Hi –

There have not been any upgrades or purchases made on this user account. I do see that you have registered 5 similarly titled free .wordpress.com sites though. Perhaps this is where the confusion has stemmed from.

Right now, if you sign in to WordPress.com and click on My Sites in the upper left corner of you’re screen and then select Switch Site you’ll see the following sites listed.

    1. hopesadvocatescom.wordpress.com
    2. hopesadvocatesblog.wordpress.com
    3. hopesadvocates16.wordpress.com
    4. hopesadvocatessite.wordpress.com
    5. hopesadvocatesweb.wordpress.com

All five of these sites are registered through and hosted with WordPress.com. They are not connected to GoDaddy in any way.

Do you own a domain through GoDaddy that you’d like to connect to one of these sites?
