My site won’t launch
-
I am using the FREE WordPress.com offering and have created a couple of pages and PUBLISHED them, but when I CLICK the LAUNCH button on the top right, it does NOTHING. I keep seeing the message, ‘Your site hasn’t been launched yet. Only you can see it until it is launched.’ And I can’t find anything in the help section that addresses this. What am I doing wrong?!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi eghoff777,
I’ve visited thenarrowgate.home.blog and the site is loading without any issues from my side. There is no longer a launch button in your account, which suggests you may have got this sorted. Please let me know if that isn’t the case though :)

My site won’t launch. I, too, have a free site and have pushed launch several times to no avail. Please help.

Hey there! What I found happened on my site was that somewhere in the mess of things there was a page that had a LIST OF THINGS TO DO. I think there were 11 items that I had to complete before I could launch. The final item was the launch itself.
If you can find that list in there, that may be your challenge.
Email me again if you can’t find it and I’ll try to guide you to someone who can help.
Peace
Eric

Hi eghoff777,
It seems that I have the same problem. I really cannot find the list that you’re referring to. Could you please direct me to it? Thanks!

If you haven’t found your checklist yet, and when you’re logged in to your WordPress.com account, try …
https://wordpress.com/checklist/{yourSiteName}.wordpress.com
… where you replace {yourSiteName} with your site name, of course. :0)
I just created a test site, added a single page and published it, then launched the site. In other words, I didn’t “complete” the checklist. So if doing that does not resolve your particular issue perhaps reply back with your site name so others can provide additional assistance.

The wordpress.com may be free but it’s an awful platform as well. For launching error, try using a different browser. I had this problem in Mozilla, impossible to fix (completed the check list everything, no luck). Then switched to Microsoft Edge browser, clicked to Launch, a new blank tab appears. Clicked again on Launch, this time it worked.

@eghoff777, the only thing that must be done before you can launch is that your account must be verified. The other setup checklist items will not prevent your site from launching. But we have noticed some cases where launching does not work from the banner appearing on the site, but it does work if you go to My Site ->Settings and do it from there instead.

Same problem here, I’m using both Mozilla and Edge, imagine, WordPress is about free blogs but you cannot launch them. I’ve been trying for several times now, easy to give up, why isn’t WordPress taking care of its stuff? Just programming, no organizing. Why not fixing this bug? Do you think many people will have the patience to solve such problems? I have to say, your software is already all over the place, Overly confusing, I mean, why don’t you do the job the right way? Being free is not an excuse. Why do we have to go to WP Admin menu to have access to another complete editing menu (the ‘black’ menu) ? Why is WordPress so poorly organized? Can’t you guys finally take some time and concentrate about putting things in order?
To others who search for the deeply hidden answer, to launch your blog for good, go in the ‘white’ menu at the left, Settings, scroll down and you will find a tiny white button ‘Launch site’.
