My sites are gone!

  • Unknown's avatar

I logged in and all of my sites are gone. It’s telling me I don’t have any. HELP! I had like 4.

  • Hello there, could you share your site address so we could help to look into them?

  • Unknown's avatar

Sure! Mindbling (which I hid years ago, so might not be able to find), Bitchburgh, Running on Wine, and The Unstable Table.

  • Hello there, could you share the site URLs, such as http://mindbling.wordpress.com instead? It’ll be more helpful for us to check.

  • Also, do you have other WordPress.com account that is using another username to login? If yes, could you try to logout from current WordPress.com account and login with that username to see if the sites are there on your Dashboard?

    Here are some:

Mindbling was an old Blogger blog. I tried a few logins, and none of them worked.

  • Hello Bethany,

The site https://bitchburgh.wordpress.com/ has at least three authors, are any of them able to login to this site and check your username by checking the People screen?

And the second site, I can see that your name is on the site as well. (https://ourunstabletable.wordpress.com/author/blruhe/).

Have you tried to login using blruhe as your username?

I’m adding the modlook tag also for the staff to help you check your account just in case.

Thank you so much! My back up login is attached to my college email account (stupid, I know) that I can no longer access. I am sure there is a solution! Just trying to figure out what.

  • No problem.

If you have no access to the email account that associated with the sites you owned, then you need to provide the following information in the Account Recovery Form (https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery) to recover your account.

    – Transaction ID: A transaction ID is a unique alphanumeric code generated for your payment. If you purchased an upgrade on the blog in question — via PayPal, credit card, or another method — you can retrieve a transaction ID by logging in to your PayPal account or locating a past WordPress.com receipt sent to your email address.

    – Activation URL: When you created your WordPress.com account, we sent an activation link to your email address that you were required to click. If the email you received included a confirmation button instead of a link, you can copy the activation URL by right-clicking on the button and selecting “Copy Link Address” (this text may be vary slightly depending on your browser).

If you have none of the above information, then your account could not be recovered.

Thank you so much! Tomorrow I will have my coauthors try to login, and I will look for the required information. Would a domain tie-in from Go Daddy be proof? I had domains pointed for three of the four. Thanks again!

  • You’re welcome. Hope you’re able to get the information you need with the help of your co-authors.

So far from the replies of the staff, those are the only two information that they need and allowed to recover an account. There’s no exception to recover an account using an alternative way.

  • Hi there,

The blruhe290118 account you’re logged into has never owned any sites on WordPress.com, and has not been active since it was created six months ago.

The two sites you mention above, as well as several others belong to the username blruhe. I can see a password reset request on that account about three hours ago, and our logs show that email was successfully delivered, so please check all email accounts you own for that email.

Also please make sure you’re completely logged out of the blruhe290118 account before you click the password reset link in that email.
