My stats appear to be logging my visits
-
I’m pretty certain that my stats log my visits.
I’m using the app on my iOS devices. If I go from the app, using the “view site” button, and go back and check the stats, they’ve gone up exactly according to the posts I click on my blog.
Isn’t this a bug in the app?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi!
Do you see the admin bar at the top of the screen when you view the site? The site view should similar to this (notice the admin bar up at the top):
If you don’t see the admin bar, it appears as though the app doesn’t recognize you as being logged in when you view the site (hence it records you as a visitor). Can you try double-clicking the app, swiping up to close it, and then re-opening?

This is what my app looks like. I tried closing and reopening it and it still looks the same. It’s pretty strange, because if I tap “View Admin”, it takes me to the admin webpage on my site with me logged in.
It obviously knows it’s me. -

Hi!
Can you upload the image to your Media Library so I can take a look? That’s odd – if you’re logged in in the browser, it should log you in when you view within the app.

Thanks! I see the following item:

Can you take a screenshot of what you see when you click “View Site” from the app? That will help us track down why you’re being recorded as a view.

Ok. It’s there now.
Here’s another data point. If I click “view site” and go back to stats, it doesn’t register me. But if I go to “view site” and then choose my home page or a post, it registers those as visits. -
That’s odd – it doesn’t appear to think you’re logged in when you’re clicking View Site. Otherwise, the admin bar should appear at the top of the screen. Could you try logging out of the app and logging back in? I appreciate your help working this out!

Thanks for the follow-up! I was able to reproduce this on my end as well. I’m going to report this to our mobile developers to see what could be causing this issue. I’ll let you know as soon as I know more!

By the way, the “number of comments” stat includes all my responses to comments as well. I don’t think that’s what’s intended by that stat.

A comment count usually includes comments from the site owner as well as visitors. Did the way this stat works change recently?
-
I don’t know if it did. I’m just starting out with WordPress. It just seems to me that counting the author’s comments inflates the stats for a post.

Thanks for the extra info.
There isn’t a setting to change that at the moment, but I’ll add the ability to exclude site owner comments from the comment count to our feature request list.
