My stats are counting my own visits

  • Unknown's avatar

The site stats is counting my own visits even when I am logged in. I am also under as admin. I notice that even with lag, the number of views increases relative to how often I edit my blog’s pages or posts and preview it. For example, the other day I had 25 views throughout the day, but it the stats said that I only had one visitor. I highly doubt one visitor visited my blog 25 times over the course of the day. Since it’s a free blog hosted on wordpress.com I can’t use any other type of counter like google analytics etc. Is here anyway to fix this or to at least get ahold of someone who can look at it?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    As mentioned on: http://en.support.wordpress.com/stats/

Do Site Stats include my own visits to my blog?
Only for private blogs. For users with private blogs, your Site Stats page will show any visits that you have made to your own blog, as well the visits of other users who have access to your blog.

I’m having the same problem. I can’t be 100% sure that I was the visitor, because while it’s a private blog, some others have access, but the exact posts that I viewed were the ones that showed as having views.

Bizarrely, the referrer frequently shows up as “WordPress Dashboard.” If it knows the views are coming from the dashboard, how can it not know that I’m the visitor?

    The blog is revamyzuckermorgenstern.wordpress.com.

Oh, I see–I didn’t see the thing about private blogs. How frustrating. Also not consistent, because sometimes my own visits don’t show up at all. So you’re saying there’s no way to know whether anyone has visited my private blog?

My blog I s not set to private and never has been…so I think wordpress needs to get on this and fix it

Either way I just moved to blogspot because wordpress hasnt really gotten back to me on this or have I even seen a difference. Blogspot lets me add star counter or google analytics which is so much more accurate

    As I wrote,

It’s “not consistent, because sometimes my own visits don’t show up at all.”

Still waiting for a sign that anyone at WP is reading this . . . please respond! Is there any way to know whether anyone besides me is seeing my private blog (others do have access)? And why do some of my visits log and others don’t? I know they don’t show up in real time, but I tested it by making several visits two days ago. They have not registered on the stats.

@revamy What’s the address of the blog you are referring to?

    revamyzuckermorgenstern.wordpress.com

If you visited your site coming from wp-admin (so the WordPress dashboard), the referrer is logged as being the WordPress Dashboard. This is not a bug and as far as I can see in your stats everything is working as it should be. Please let us know if you need any further assistance!

I can assure you, there is not a correlation between my visits and what shows up in Stats. I can view 50 pages in a day and register zero on Stats. This makes it impossible to trust the stats on other days and know when I have visitors. I don’t know what else you can do for me, except to report back to the staff who handle stats that there are bugs. It’s very frustrating.

I see some new stats at http://wordpress.com/my-stats/?unit=1&blog=60227814
On what day did you visit your blog (on the front end) but are you missing your stats?

Can you create your own thread revamy and stop posting on mine? Thanks
