My stats are disappearing on past dates

WordPress.com just ate some of my stats!!!
I logged in, and my “best ever” day is now over 3,474 views less than it was when it happened in January. Call me vain, but it was a pretty epic day and I screenshot it – now it’s showing a different number! That’s the only date I know for sure but what would cause my numbers to go down on a date from January? And how do I know that more of my stats aren’t disappearing!?
