My stats have collapsed since moving from WordPress.com to WordPress.org

    Hi there,
I just recently moved from .com to .org and my stats have collapsed. Basically I have half the views that I used to on a daily basis. Can you help me understand why and what is going on. This is extremely upsetting.
    Thanks,
    Jacqueline

  • Did your URL change when you made the switch? That can cause a drop in search engine results until the site/URL is reindexed. Did you migrate your followers/subscribers to your new site?

Overall, WordPress.com has pretty outstanding SEO that can be hard to match, at least initially, with a standalone self-hosted site. Additionally, the WordPress.com community can generate a lot of traffic through the Reader and topic/tag searches that can’t be duplicated with a self-hosted site.

There are advantages to using a self-hosted WordPress.org site. But there are a few disadvantages as well.
