My stats remain on visitors: 0 and views: 0

There is obviously a glitch in the WordPress stats program, and as of yet they are not only unable to resolve it, but are apparently also unwilling to discuss it here. Either they are seriously understaffed, or else simply cannot get to the root of the problem. In either case, it continues to be disconcerting, although given the state of affairs in the world in general these days, it is not really that big of a deal.

at 15.30 in the afternoon of January 14. It’s an old post with many many views and NO visitor (Stats don’t see the visitors on this one, nobody can tell me why). When I checked 9 hours later its routine was not changed: it was public, it had nearly a hundred views and no visitors. Now I made it private again and I’m waiting for new thrilling surprises…
Stats stop working at midnight and sleep a little. After the hiatus – from 3 hours to 7 – they wake up and count again, adding the missed visitors to the day before. They stop at monday’s midnight with let’s say 300 visitors, and tuesday morning the monday visitors rise to 400.
I asked for WordPress help half a dozen times but this is still my situation. Any suggestion? Thank you. -
Oh, don’t sweat it; I post stuff worse than that and I’ve been here since 2006. Check out my blog if you don’t believe me; I have mirrored the blogs of three serial killers, for instance. I got a death threat from a jihadi the other day.
This is a bug, a technical issue. It’s one we could all handle a bit better if staffers would drop in just to say “We’re working on it” but it’s just a technical issue.

My stats aren’t working. It’s said I have 25 visitors all day long. I posted a new post, got two comments, multiple likes and lots of online feedback, but for hours the stats have not changed at all. No new views/visitors, and the new post isn’t even showing as a post that was seen.

Over the last couple of days the stats haven’t been showing up on certain posts, and neither are the Facebook Likes/Shares counting correctly.
For example, in one of today’s posts: http://theaimn.com/tony-words-never-realised-many-things-agree/ it shows 40 something Facebook Shares/Likes, yet on Facebook itself it numbers several hundred. Also, it takes about four hours for the stats to show up on the post. It’s only a problem because the authors are paid based on the number of hits.

I think I’d rather have no stats, or frozen stats than the current >90% drop. If there isn’t a problem with WordPress stats, I’m going to start believing it must be a conspiracy …

Hi everyone,
I reviewed all of the posts since Jeremey’s last reply in this thread, and I’m seeing a few different issues mentioned:
- Stats are slow to update
- Stats update in fits and starts (so you don’t see any changes in stats for a while and then all of sudden your stats catch up)
- Stats seem to be lower than usual or missing
I’m checking in with our team to find out what might be causing stats to update slower than usual, or to stop updating for a period of time. I’ll let you know when I have more information from our team about that.
However, please keep in mind that stats are not ever real time — we do our best to update them as fast as possible (and that’s an area we’re always trying to improve on), but it can take some time for our system to crunch the numbers.
Once we know more about the first two issues I mentioned, I’ll return to issue #3 and follow up with those of you who are reporting missing stats.

Thanks for looking into this. I have had over 6,000 views of a recent post via Facebook, but the like button on the post only shows 700. Will this be updated eventually to reflect the views my stats page is giving?

I confirmed that there is an issue that’s slowing down stats, but our team is aware of the problem and working on it. I don’t know exactly when this will be resolved, but it will likely be next week before stats are back to normal. Please hang in there while we fix this up for you!
