My stats stopped getting tracked back in October of last year

    Hi –

I’ve got several blogs using WordPress – they are hosted on Namecheap.com. I suspect when I moved the hosting over I was no longer able to see stats, but I’m just a little confused.

The main blog I’m interested in is dancrane.com. I’m confused why this shows up in wordpress as ‘dancranedotcom.wordpress.com’ — I assume that has to do w/ forwarding?

I also don’t see a “Stats” page in my dashboard.

    Thanks!
    Dan

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hey Dan,

It looks like we have a couple things going on here. First, did you previously have your domain dancrane.com mapped to your blog dancranedotcom.wordpress.com? It looks like that mapping upgrade is still active. However, your domain dancrane.com is now hosted with NameCheap it looks like. In that case, you wouldn’t need the domain mapping upgrade.

To rectify the stats issue, in order to have stats collected on your self-hosted site through NameCheap, you’ll need to enable Jetpack as explained here:

    http://jetpack.me/support/getting-started-with-jetpack/

That essentially brings many of the WordPress.com features to your self-hosted site.

After you have connected Jetpack, I can transfer all of your old stats from dancranedotcom.wordpress.com to your self-hosted site so you can have them all in once place.

Can you give that a try?

Ah! Great! I just installed Jetback and authorized it for dancrane.com

    I did get this error:
Shortcode Embeds could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error. Perhaps there is a conflict with another plugin you have installed?

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare soundcloud_shortcode() (previously declared in /home/riwphe/public_html/wp-content/plugins/soundcloud-shortcode/soundcloud-shortcode.php:36) in /home/riwphe/public_html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/modules/shortcodes/soundcloud.php on line 112

Let me know if there’s anything I should do next.

    THANKS!

Also wondering if that will get me stats for my other domains which are hosted on name cheap – in particular, RayandRemora.com and BeProcreative.com

    Thanks!!

    Hey Dan,

Perfect! Looks like we have dancrane.com all setup on Jetpack. Just to confirm, you would like me to transfer all of your old stats from dancranedotcom.wordpress.com to the new Jetpack site dancrane.com. Is that correct?

Regarding the error, that isn’t too worrisome. Basically, that means that you already have a plugin installed on your site that is taking the same name as something we’re trying to install, which blocks our install. But, if the Soundcloud plugin you’re currently using is working fine, the Jetpack module will just stay deactivated and shouldn’t cause any problems.

Also wondering if that will get me stats for my other domains which are hosted on name cheap – in particular, RayandRemora.com and BeProcreative.com

Perhaps I should clarify a bit just so we’re on the same page. Activating Jetpack does not backfill your stats for the time period that Jetpack wasn’t active. In order to track stats, Jetpack needs to be active. So, if you want to track stats going forward, Jetpack is a handy tool for that.

In the case of dancranedotcom.wordpress.com, I’m going to fill in all of the old stats from when dancrane.com was mapped to WordPress.com. Those stats will go until about October 2013. From that point until now, you’ll have a gap, but it will track your stats going forward. Does that help to clarify?

Ah, yes- that makes sense. Thanks!

And yeah that would be awesome if you can migrate the old stats. THANKS!

I’m assuming I just need to install jetpack on my other sites now and then stats will begin tracking for them…

    Thanks!

    Hey Dan,

Perfect! I went ahead and merged your stats from your old WordPress.com blog. You can see them here:

    https://wordpress.com/my-stats/?blog=72148973&unit=1

It looks like you’ve installed Jetpack on your other sites also. You should be able to access your stats panel for those individual sites by visiting your Dashboard (site url followed by /wp-admin) then going to Jetpack -> Site Stats.

Please let me know if you have any trouble finding your stats pages or with the stats being collected!
