my suit symbol jpegs are misbehaving

  I did have nice looking normal suit symbols until a few weeks ago and now they have these dreadful borders around them. I’ve done nothing to create this situation, so what can I do? I deliberately use this particular theme as it wasn’t an issue. Has the theme been changed?

  That’s a new issue with gifs. Go to the html post editor and remove the width and height commands from the image codes.
