My theme is not loading correctly.

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,
My theme is not loading correctly – have cleared cache & cookies: no change.
Have checked both I.E & Firefox: no change.
Have used two computers: no change.
Started yesterday as far as I can tell.

    Many thanks, David.

    Hi David,

I checked your site and I see everything loading correctly. To help me investigate what’s going wrong for you, can you make a screenshot of what you see on your site?

You can upload screenshots to your Media Library under Media > Add New in your dashboard, or you can use an online service like Snaggy. Thanks!

  • Unknown's avatar

Thanks – I have loaded an image into Media Library called ‘Capture’ hope I did this right.
Ho, I notice that I now see ‘all’ WordPress sites corrupted, but no other problems with browser on any other sites.
Very odd as this is on one with Win7 & other computer Win8.

    Hi David,

Thanks for the screenshot and for letting me know that this is happening on all WordPress.com sites. It sounds like there might be a problem with the connection between your computer and our servers.

Can you please try opening these three links?

If each page loads correctly, you should see a bunch of text (CSS code) there. That’s the code that gives WordPress.com sites the correct styles.

If one or more of those links doesn’t open for you, please let me know.

    Hi,
    Thanks for being so prompt.
None of them open – notice that ‘Blogger’ sites are ok, also Typepad.com if that is any help.

    P.s
I notice that it seems ok when I open ‘Customise’ and view it there.

    Hi David,

Thanks for letting me know. Can you please do a traceroute to s0.wp.com for me?

To run a traceroute on Windows, you can follow these steps:

    1. Windows 7 or Vista: From the Start Menu, in the search field, type “cmd,” then press ENTER to open a Command Prompt window.

Previous versions of Windows: From the Start menu, click Start → Run, type “cmd” and press ENTER.

    2. Type the following command into the Command Prompt window, and press ENTER: tracert s0.wp.com
    3. Allow the command to finish running even if it seems like it’s going to hang. Then, right-click in the Command Prompt window and select MARK. Then, select all of the text in the Command Prompt window and press ENTER.
    4. Paste it into your reply.

We also have that information here: Advanced Browser Troubleshooting

That will help us figure out where the problem lies.

    Ok?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,
just as a matter of interest – just checked on a Samsung Tab using a Wi-Fi link rather than my house ADSL modem and see the same problem.

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,
Today was the same result but:
If I load site with this address it all works https://davidalockwood.wordpress.com/
Also change other W/P addresses and they will correctly load, but with ‘http:// ‘ they turn to rubbish again.

    Hi David,

Thanks for letting me know those details. Some users have been able to resolve this by resetting their router (unplugging the router, waiting 15-30 seconds, and then plugging the router back in). Can you give that a try and see if that helps?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,
    Done – no change…….

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi David,

Well, that’s a bummer. To help us figure out where the problem is, can you please also do a traceroute to s1.wp.com and s2.wp.com using the same steps as before?

These traceroutes can help us determine if the connection problem is related to your ISP or if it’s related to something on our end. In most cases, there is a problem with the ISP blocking our CSS, in which case contacting your ISP can help resolve the issue. However, if the connection issue is on our end, these additional traceroutes will help us identify what’s going on.

    Hi David,

I see that the first request in those traceroutes timed out. That indicates a potential problem with your ISP that’s causing the issue you see at WordPress.com. Can you please contact your ISP about the issue to see if they are able to resolve it for you? (You can explain that WordPress.com sites load correctly over https:// but not http:// and provide the traceroutes you sent me.)

Please let me know if they are able to resolve this for you.

    Thanks – I suspected as much…..
Just tried another provider with a 4G connection (Wi Fi) and all worked ok Omantel is not exactly in the forefront of internet technology – even if they think they are: will see what they say.

    Again, many thanks,

    David.

  • Unknown's avatar

Just a quick update: the provider OMANTEL have still not sorted out why ‘only’ WordPress sites do not open correctly. I think they are not really bothered when everything else works ok…….
The only consolation is that another provider here in Oman works – just that I need to use WiFi for that one.
I notice that I am not alone with this problem so maybe they will (or you) sort the issue in due time.

    David.

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi David,

Thank you for the update — I’m sorry you’re still having trouble with this. We have a number of other reports from Oman about the same issue, and our team is investigating to see if there is anything more we can do about this from our end. I’ll let you know as soon as I have more information or an update about it.

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi David,

If you don’t mind, it would help us to gather some additional information from your end. In particular, we’d like to see the HTTP headers when you try to visit your site. We have instructions for how to get those here:

    Advanced Browser Troubleshooting

Once you have screenshots of those HTTP headers, you can upload them to your Media Library under Media > Add New in your dashboard, or you can email us with those screenshots as attachments.

    Thank you!

    Hi,
First – thanks for all this help :)
