My theme is not working

  Can somebody help me please….

  I see other people using wordpress has nice theme and the menu bar has -about
  -contact
  -home
  -blog
  -beauty
  Mine only have the 1st three.
  How do i add those? how do i put my instagram icon?
  Why when i preview my theme it does not appear but it state its being activated?
  How do i out archives at the side?

  Help! I’m not a tech savvy and a very new blogger

  You can assign multiple categories and tags to your posts (not to pages or the site) and create a custom menu.

  This is a one or the other situation. You have two choices on any blog
  (1) All posts on the front page.
  (2) A static front page http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/ and all posts on a different page.

  By default the front page of a blog displays all published posts in reverse chronological order with the most recently published post on top. When we publish a post on WordPress software the software automatically creates the same entry in the Archives, and on the dynamic (automatically updating) Categories and Tags pages in accord with the Categories and Tags we assign to that post.

  So when we create custom menu and add the dynamic (automatically updating) category pages to that custom menu we create the appearance (not the reality) of posting to more than one page.

  You need to be aware that:

  1. There are differences between posts and pages described here

  2. There are differences between static pages we bloggers create https://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/ that will not automatically update, and dynamic category pages created by the software when you publish a post which will automatically update https://en.support.wordpress.com/category-pages/.

  3. We organize posts by category assignment prior to publication. http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/categories/ and when we publish posts the dynamic category pages they automatically display on are determined by the categories we assign to them.

  So the process you need to use is:

  a. Assign Categories to your Posts. https://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/categories

  b. Create a custom menu https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#1-create-a-custom-menu

  c. Add only the dynamic category page links into the custom menu that you want to appear in that menu https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/view-all/#adding-category-pages and arrange them as you wish them to appear https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/view-all/#changing-the-order-creating-sub-menus

  d. Create pages and sub-pages for static content, not for posts https://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/

  e. Add any custom links and other items like static pages and sub-pages into your custom menu

  how do i put my instagram icon?

  Type in instagram and click search https://en.support.wordpress.com/?s=instagram Then click into the resulting documents there.

  If you have difficulty authorising instagram read what follows.

  Make sure you are logged into Instagram when doing the widget set up.
  The Admin login link to the dashboard for every blog hosted by wordpress.COM is:

  * You will have to replace “name_of_blog” with your actual blog’s name in that URL.

  Is your Instagram account public? Or is is private, and therefore, blocked when it comes to display of images in the widget on your blog? And, are you logged in when authorizing it?

  This particular widget needs to be authorized using the WP admin widget page rather than the customizer. If you go to Dashboard > Appearance> Widgets from the WP Admin dashboard and authorize the widget from there, you’ll have much better luck.   Hye there,

  I have check the 1st website you gave me about theme. I came across portfolio project. I understand what it is for…. but when i write blog it will be at new blog like new writing. I tried copy paste from the blog to portfolio but couldn’t. Why? Do i have to type all over again in the portfolio?

  But for the static page i wanted to choose home.
  It only appear about and contact.
  Why home doesn’t appear?

  Hi Myris

  You first need to make a new page and give it the title Home. Then you can select it as the static front page.

  Any post, page or category you first need to make, before you can use it on your site.
