My three sites are not secure
-
I have three wordpress websites that are now showing ‘not secure’ verbiage in the search bar when I attempt to log in. These sites are:
http://www.tarotbyjacqueline.com
http://www.free-candle-spells.com
http://www.lucky13clover.comPlease advise if this is a problem with wordpress or is this something that my domains hoster needs to address?
Thank you
Jacqueline

Hi!
These three sites appear to be self-hosted WordPress blogs. Due to the differences between WordPress.com and the self-hosted, free software WordPress.org, we can’t offer support for them on this forum.
But I will try to give you some information that may help, and you should feel free to post on the WordPress.org forums with future questions about these blogs.
On which browser(s) do you see the “Not secure” warning? I see it on Google Chrome.
This warning is a new feature that browser makers are pushing to make their users aware of the security risks in submitting passwords and financial information over the insecure HTTP protocol. The only way to get rid of these warnings is to enable HTTPS. You will have to work with your hosts on that point.
Please see this link for more (sorry, slightly technical) information on the reasons behind this.
Does this address your concerns?

Hi Josh,
since I am not the web designer, I probably need to clarify this – I’m the website owner only.
Given that, a more specific question is this: when I go to log into my site to make changes (in the dot- php part), all three sites are not secure and notates this in the browser bar (I use google chrome). However, here at work, using IE, I can log in and while the little padlock icon does not show – it also does not give me the message (before the http) that I am using a not secure path.
I am just wondering if this was something that I need to address with wordpress or is this an issue with the hosting services for my sites?
Thanks for guiding me to more clear posting – a second cup of coffee helps too! :)

Hey!
Yes, this is expected. IE has not made this change yet, if they ever plan to. Chrome made the change two months ago, and there are plans for Firefox to start doing this soon.
This is definitely something that needs to be addressed with the hosting services for your sites, not with your WordPress installation, although they will need to be adjusted to use https:// in their URLs:
:) Yes. Coffee makes everything clearer!
