My (unpublished) Home Page is broken
-
When I go to Edit my (new, unedited, unpublished) Homepage, I get a running circle in the middle of the screen, and on the left is the DESIGN menu. I can return to the Dashboard, or I can select; Navigation, Styles, Pages, Templates, Template Parts. I just want to type into the existing classic Homepage template, which I can see when I select Templates then Home, but that layout does not display when I try to edit the page
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hey there,
Many thanks for reaching out!
I can replicate what you’re experiencing there – curiously, when I click Templates > Index, I can see the editor load.
If you follow that process to https://lindleykarstenscom.wordpress.com/wp-admin/site-editor.php?postType=wp_template&postId=pub%2Ftwentytwentythree%2F%2Findex – can you tell me if you’re able to see the editor?
Many thanks.

I can now see the editor for the Homepage. When I go to save the changes to my Homepage, I get a notice telling me that I’m editing the Template.

Hi there,
How do I edit the Page without editing the Template.
By default this theme is set up to show blog posts on the homepage. You are trying to set up a custom homepage instead? The ability to edit templates directly is a new thing on WordPress sites, so you do have the option to edit the “Home” page template directly. There is no harm in this since the template is only used in one place (your homepage) though generally speaking we recommend that you take care in editing page templates that have a placeholder block like the “Post Content Block” since this indicates a template that is used in the creation of more than one page on your site.
We go into some detail about the new Site Editor in our webinar here:
Do I have to create Posts to feed the content in that merged block below the header?
The way this theme (Twenty Twenty Three) is, yes it’s set up to show blog posts in that area. But that is not the only way to set up your site, just what this theme does out of the box. You are trying to create instead a grid of pages of some kind (instead of blog posts) instead?
Do you happen to have any sites that you are drawing inspiration from or trying to emulate? It may help to understand what direction you are trying to take with your site if there is a similar visual from a different site that we can reference. Thanks for the additional info!

I’m okay with the layout of this theme’s templates in general, but the way the site handles images leaves the page looking amateurish. Is there some way to keep the template from resizing the Featured Image from the post page? Or to adjust the resizing?

Hi there,
The design is more minimalistic, so you’ll end up with similar to what you are currently seeing as you add more content to your site. Once you add your new post, you’ll get a clearer picture of how everything will align. Here’s how the demo looks:
Did you want to see the images vertically, similar to what is shown in the demo?
