My URL does not come up in search engine results – should I change it?
-
My blog http://www.dbadventure.wordpress.com is virtually un-Googable. If anyone searches for my blog, either typing the URL or something like “Bazeley adventure”, it doesn’t come up unless they type in full “Deborah Bazeley blog” which isn’t memorable. If someone recommends my blog, they won’t find my blog unless they type in the URL and go to it directly.
I am thinking of changing it to “dbwanderlust”. There is an expired Blogger blog under that URL but would mine also show in a Google search? Alternatively, I was thinking of changing it to something like “bazeleywanderlust”, though I am not sure this is particularly memorable?
I don’t want to lose followers, but not coming up in search engine results related to “dbadventure” is a problem. Should I change?
Also, will my previous posts still be shown on search engines? I was unsure of the page’s phrase “permalinks to your old blog, including search engine results, will be broken.” If they don’t show in results, is there a way to remedy this?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

First of all, there is no “www” in your URL.
Secondly, whenever you change URLs, you lose ALL rank you have in search engines and start again from zero.
Thirdly, “Uncategorized” and “Personal” are entirely useless default Categories for a travel blog. How about “Travel” instead?
Fourthly, you are posting about once a month. You will never be a hit on search engines till you up your productivity. Once a week is minimum if you want to rank on search engines well. Daily is better.

Thank you for your reply. I was thinking of changing it now because i want to start building on my blog and so it would be better to make changes now when my following is relatively small. I am aware i need to post more often to gain followers and edit the categories, etc. I have ben gradually sorting the appearance and navigation of my blog this week (I have limited wifi.) I guess what I am asking is would having a more unique url helpa at all?
Do you know the answer to my last question about the
permalinks at all? -
Yes. The answer is that ALL those links are broken. They go nowhere.
In contrast, if you purchase a custom domain instead of changing to another whatever.wordpress.com URL, those links still work.
