My url has my business name but I want to change it.

My personal blog is now here on wordpress, but the url has my business name in it. Can I change this? I don’t want to pay to have a personalized url I just don’t want it to reflect my business when it’s my personal blog.

If you would like to change your WordPress.com site’s URL, there are options and instructions for doing so here:

Please bear in mind that once changed, that site’s original WordPress.com URL will become permanently unavailable for future use by you or any other user. If you feel that you might need that URL again in the future, you might consider starting a new site with your preferred name rather than changing the name of your existing site.

Thanks for the response. Having read your reply I believe I would like to start a new site so that if I want the current URL I can use it in the future. How do I create a new site and transfer current site to it? Thanks for your help!

So, if you follow the instructions in the link I posted previously, and do NOT check the “discard current address” box, your current content will be moved to the new address and your current address will be empty.
But it is CRUCIAL that you do NOT check that “discard” box. If you do, you will lose your current address and be unable to get it back.

I would also encourage you not to change your username as part of this process. That can always be done later. Stick to doing one thing at a time and there will be fewer chances for a mistake.
