My user list will not update

  My users list will not update to include new users I have invited to my private site. The only way I can tell who has access is by going to my past invitations list to see who accepted their invitation. Those who have accepted my invitation should now be on my users list.

  Hi there.

  Viewers on a private blog do not appear under users, but under Settings ->Reading. Even though you invite them under Users, that section only shows users who have dashboard access, not viewers.

  Then how do I change their role to contributor. I need them on my user list. Do I have to re-invite them?

  Please make sure you understand that adding someone as a contributor will give them access to your site’s dashboard. That means they’ll have the ability to make changes to your site, not just read it. The types of changes depends on their contributor level you assign.

  If you want to change one of your viewers to a contributor, then yes, you have to invite them again as a contributor. You cannot change a viewer to a contributor as the system keeps then separate, exactly so you don’t make someone a contributor by mistake. The support doc I linked above explains how to add someone as a contributor.

  Also note that this won’t remove them as a viewer. Any viewers appearing under Settings ->Reading has to be removed from there, and contributors added under Users have to be removed or edited under Users.
