My user name shows up in google search
-
My username shows up in a google search for my blog.
I’m new at this. I simply never had anything interesting to say until now so I’m behind the times on blogging. Here’s what happens if I search for Cook Sidhe:
I get two results from google, one that just says The Cook Sidhe as it should, and another that looks like this:
cooksidhe.wordpress.com/author/,<username>/
Any way to correct this double result so that my username is not exposed? For the moment I’ve changed my password to the hardest one I know that I can remember. What if I change my username? Does that remove it, or will it just show up again?
Help! And thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

There is no way to blog using a username on a public blog and not have the username show up in search engines. That is why your username should not be your real name. It’s not a security risk.

While it’s helpful to know that I can’t do anything about it, and that therefore I should change my username (thanks for that), I do think it’s a security risk because somebody having your username is halfway to hacking your blog.
Oh well, if I get popular, I’ll upgrade and then maybe this problem will go away… if I get my own domain or something.

“Somebody having your username is halfway to hacking your blog.”
I report on hackers for a living. That is a false statement. Heck, a third of the themes we have here display the username on each post.

You can change your username and/or your display name:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/change-your-username/Your username displays in these forums (and sometimes other places such as in your blog URL, but not necessarily). Note that these forums are public and indexed very quickly by Google et al.
