My Username Can't be Changed!! Help?

  Hi,
  My username seems to be unchangeable. The Public Name can be changed, however, the username is not accessible.
  The username is highlighted in gray and won’t respond to any mouse clicks.
  My wife created this using my email address and I want to reclaim the account! :)
  Please help. Cheers,

  Hi,

  It is possible to change your WordPress.com account username. I suspect you may be referring to a self-hosted WordPress site.

  Please post the URL of the blog you need help with.

  Hi,

  I’ve already deleted the blog, but can’t seem to change the username found in Account Settings > Username

  Here’s the URL from my account settings page .. although I don’t think you’ll be able to access it ..

  Since you deleted the blog, you may need to try one of the following options:

  • Selecting “Yes, create a new blog to match my new username” will create a new blog for you. If your new user name is newusername, the new blog will be newusername.wordpress.com
  • Selecting “No, don’t create a matching address.” will just change your username and make no changes to the address of your blog.

  Argh ..

  So. No go. I can see where you got the info from:

  Change Your Username

  However, I’m still at an impass.. the username box under accounts is still blocked from change..

  It’s late, I’m going to pick up on this problem again tomorrow during the day.

  Hi Graham,

  The issue was that your account email address was not verified and usernames can only be changed once your account is verified. I have just sorted that our for you now, so you will be able to change your username from here on.
