My visitor counter is wrong
-
I’ve noticed for some time now that my visitor counter just doesn’t seem to notice a lot of my visitors. I can have X visitors, then I’ll post a new post and some short time later, have several “likes” on the post, and maybe only X+1 on my counter. The next day, it still hasn’t caught up and never does.
I’m not really sure how the counter counts, but I’ve added various free visitor counters to my blog to try to see who’s dropping by and it amazes me how inconsistent all of them are.
Anyway, I don’t understand how visitors can actually “like” my posts, and yet their visits are somehow overlooked by the counter?
If anyone can explain this to me, maybe I’ll stop obsessing over it :-)
Thanks,

Likes and shares are misleading when you are talking about page view stats. Your followers and anyone with a WordPress.com blog who is logged into WordPress.com can “like” and “share” your posts in several locations such as the Reader without ever clicking into your blog and creating a page view stat. See here for what I do to compel readers to read posts on my site > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2012/07/09/wordpress-followers-likes-and-stats

Thanks Timethief!
I hadn’t considered those other locations… Once again, I really appreciate your helpfulness :-)
Thanks,
