My website that was created in 2010 is having issues. My designer died and did not give me log in information, how can I find out how to fix the issues when I can’t log in to the page to manage it AND I can’t contact word press.

    I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

  • Hi,

What is the URL of the site you are trying to access? We’ll be happy to take a look and see if we can help.

    Thank you! http://www.thedevelopingcanine.com/

I really need to make updates to this site since it’s got some glitch that is preventing the contact us form from delivering email to me.

    Thank you!

Also, everything related to this website is handled (or should I say, not) by Network Solutions, so I have to figure out a way to transfer everything to a different company. Been with them since 1999 and have seen them go quickly downhill but feel trapped by how complicated it is to do if it’s possible at all.

  • Also, everything related to this website is handled (or should I say, not) by Network Solutions,

I’m afraid that, because your site is not hosted here at WordPress.com, we can’t do much to assist you in this situation. You’ll need to contact Network Solutions and hopefully their support team will have “account owner death” process for you to work through.

Network Solutions said because they didn’t create the website WordPress needs to help me. So who ultimately can get me access to this wordpress website?

Network Solutions gave me this Ip address 206.188.192.216 does that help!?

To clarify, there are three different “WordPress” at play here:

    1. The free, open-source WordPress software which powers your website.
    2. WordPress.org which is the open-source project that works on the WordPress software and where you can get the software for free to use on your own hosting provider.
    3. WordPress.com which is a managed hosting provider of the WordPress software and with whom you’re contacting now.

Since the problem is that you can’t access your WordPress install, you need to contact Network Solutions again.

Since they’re hosting the website, they also have access to its backend and databases. They would also be the ones getting paid to host the site, so they don’t need to be the ones to “make the site” – WordPress is just the software running the site on their servers.

They’re also the only ones who “hold the keys” to your site, so I would push back on them when they say it’s a “WordPress problem” the next time you contact them. If the person you talk to can’t help, ask that your request be escalated to a manager or supervisor.

If you’ve been paying for the website hosting, you should be able to give them that proof as well. However, if your designer paid for it, it might be more difficult to prove ownership.

    Best of luck.
