my web site has been hacked
-
I received a comment on my “guest book” page and when I went to check it out my Avast software blocks the page and say it is infected with JS:ScriptPE-inf[Trj]. I don’t know what this means. Also in the comment there is a url to click on and Avast blocks that and says it is infected with URL:Mal. So, what do I need to do to clean this up? Help!! Thank you.

Hi –
Do you see the comment from here? https://hatchcreek.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit-comments.php
If it was caught by the Spam filter there’s nothing to worry about. Temporarily disabling the software will allow you to see the comment.
I’m happy to look from my end as well if you can tell me what day it was left, or who by, so I can find it.

Yes, I saw it from the link above, and I marked it as spam. So, now will that make everything okay?
-
Yes. Once marked as spam the comment is only visible from the back end of your site. No visitors are going to see it, ever.
