My website developer needs access to file and theme editor

I have someone designing my website and they are having some issues. He wants to know: how can the developer edit the site, i.e. accessing files or the theme editor. Also, he cant find editor or Plugin in the Wp-admin. To clarifiy, I’ve provided them with my username and password, so they have admin privelages. I’m not all that tech savy, could you kindly send them an email to clarifiy? Please, and thanks!

Their email is: (email visible only to moderators and staff)

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hey there,

All the questions that your designer asked apply to WordPress.org (self-hosted) sites, but not to sites hosted here at WordPress.com. For instance, plugins cannot be installed at WordPress.com sites, while the can be added at WordPress.org/self-hosted sites.

At WordPress.com, he doesn’t have the same access to the back end of your site.

Please forward him this link, so he understands the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org:

He can also email us directly at help@wordpress.com. Have him refer to ticket #638367-f in the subject line.

Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks much!

    Hi,

How to get theme folder access and plugin area access..please help..

    Thanks..

    Hey Mike,

As I mentioned before, third party plugins cannot be installed on WordPress.com sites. This is a security risk as we cannot vet all outside code and it puts our users, their sites, and our servers at risk.

Plugins are only usable on self-hosted WordPress.org sites.

I know the difference between .com and .org can get confusing, so here’s a breakdown of the benefits of each:

Sometimes, even without the installation of a plugin, we can help you gain the function you’d like here at WordPress.com. If you let me know your goals, perhaps I can help further.

Also, there isn’t theme folder access at WordPress.com.

    Please let me know! Cheers.
