My website disappeared without a trace.
-
I have a website hosted by Bluehost and built through WordPress.com. I clicked publish last night on a website that I’d been working on for two months. When I clicked publish, initially it gave me a preview of the website with the admin tools at the top (customize, etc.). When I clicked anything from there, such as clicking customize, clicking back, trying to type in my domain, attempting to log back into WordPress, etc., I received an error page saying the server couldn’t be reached. When I was able to log into WordPress and Bluehost, both acted as though my website had never existed. It is not listed in my sites. There is no trace of it. Then I received an email alerting me that my WordPress site had been updated with a link (with a temp domain) to my website. The link takes me to a page that has pieces of my website (an empty square where my logo used to be, the address in the footer for my office, an empty square where my photo used to be with my name below it, my copyright with my business name under the footer, etc.) but the rest is an empty and distorted page. I’m trying to find any way to get my website back and/or learn why it disappeared in the first place.

@jcampbellmft sorry to hear that! I do need to clarify, WordPress.org and WordPress.com are two different things. One is free software you installed at Bluehost. The other is our service, which you are not using.
But your service provider can likely help you. You might ask Bluehost if they can help you restore a backup. I believe they offer paid WordPress help, too, or you can use the DIY forums over at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/ if you need more help.
Hoping this helps! For more details on the difference between the free software and our managed hosting service, this may help:
Good luck :)
